Memorial Day Celebrations are not always about stores etc. having big sales events, picnics or BBQ's. It is true HONOR and RESPECT for those in the Military who have served our country. Some sacrifices some of us can only imagine. Josh Turner, a certified triple-Platinum selling country artist, released a moving tribute to his granddaddy as well as those we cherish in our hearts.
"In December 2014, all of the Turner family had a get-together at my uncle's house," shares Josh. "I asked him if he would show me my granddaddy's medal and papers. When I got to see them, it had a profound effect on me. I was made aware that he was an American hero and no one really knew about what he had been through. It was clear to me that he was the epitome of an unsung hero." He went on to say, "I wrote the song on Aug 27, 2015 as a tribute to him. The fact that it ended up on a record 10 years after I was allowed to see his stuff is mind blowing to me. It's also an honor to be able to sing about him in this way because I feel like that are so many others just like him that we don't know about or have taken for granted. I'm excited I get to share images of him in the video of this song. God bless all of our troops who have made the sacrifices necessary for us to enjoy the freedoms that we have."
The song can be found on Josh Turner's 10th MCA Nashville studio album, 'This Country Music Thing.' In this country we have so much as a result of those who have made the ultimate sacrifices. Keep them on your minds this weekend and always, for they are the 'Unsung Heroes.'
